THE 2021 WINTER SEASON
The 2021 Winter season is limited to 18 available seats and they will be filled on a first come first served basis. To register your interest or for additional information, please contact us. A Registration Form is available for download at the bottom of this page for those drivers who would like to secure their spot in the 2021 Winter Championship.
Why do we limit the field to 18 cars?
Racing in packed fields of 30 plus cars is exciting at the start, but paying for crash damage isn't. We find at this level of racing large fields of cars result in numerous crashes and extended caution periods, which result in very few green flag race laps. What are you supposed to learn in 4-5 laps of racing? And, it's not much fun, especially when you're taken out by someone else and have to pay for crash damage. Plus, your opportunity to win prize money is much greater with less cars. So, we limit the field to 18 cars. This gives our drivers more room to maneuver and results in a greater amount of green flag track time, while producing exciting and very competitive racing. We also set our races at 50 miles in length or 35 minutes, so drivers can receive the maximum amount of racing for which they paid.

Limited Damage Liability: To assist in keeping our driver's costs to a minimum, Formula Americas offers a Damage Reduction Policy for $3,500 usd / event. This policy limits the maximum damage liability per claimed incident, as follows:
- 1st incident: $5,000 usd
- 2nd incident: $7,500 usd
- 3rd incident: $10,000 usd
The Series will have spare cars on-hand, should a car be rendered non-repairable at an event.
Driver Eligibility: Formula Americas Super GP is an international competition open to drivers around the world. The minimum age to participate in the Formula Americas Super GP Series is 14 years of age. Drivers who are not yet 14, but turning 14 during the season may be allowed depending on experience. Minimum requirement is graduation of a recognized racing school and/or school racing series or extensive karting resume.
More Green Flag Racing: All events will average over 4 hours of track time consisting of two 30-minute free practice sessions, a 20-minute qualifying session and three feature races per weekend. Races are set by distance (avg. 50 miles), not time limits. Starting grids for race #1 will be determined by its own qualifying session, while races 2 & 3 of each event will be determined by each driver's fastest lap in the preceding race.
Two Seasons: Starting in January 2021, Formula Americas Super GP will consist of two seasons per year. The Winter season will run from January through May, while the Summer season will run from June through October. Each season will consist of 5 events (15 races) with one event per month.
Rolling Starts: Formula Americas Super GP will feature rolling starts. Our young drivers coming out of karting will have plenty to learn about race craft in cars as it is without adding standing starts on their plate. We also find that standing starts at this level add to massive pileups on the first lap, which are not productive. Standing starts are best left to the next level like F4.
Premier Schedule: The Formula Americas season will run at some of the most prestigious race circuits in North America. Premier race tracks where you'll be racing as you advance in your career. Formula Americas Super GP events are 2-day venues (Saturday & Sunday), so our drivers can arrive late Friday evening and leave late Sunday afternoon. This is designed so our drivers won't have to miss school or work to participate. The Official schedule will be announced later this year.
